This portfolio documents my teaching efforts as a fellow of the Preparing the Professoriate (PTP) program, the Certificate of Accomplishments in Teaching (CoAT), and the STEM and Writing Annual Partnership (SWAP) program at NC State University.
For the PTP program, I worked with my mentor Dr. Zlatko Sitar who is a Kobe Steel Distinguished Professor with decades of teaching experience at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). Besides this, I have worked with Dr. Ramón Collazo who is also a professor at the MSE department (for CoAT) and Laura Waldrep who is a lecturer at the English department (for the SWAP program).
The courses that I have observed & taught within the PTP program at the MSE department were: „MSE 703: Interaction of Electrons with Solids“ and „MSE 704: Interaction of Photons with Solids“. Both lectures are designed for graduate students of materials science & engineering, but frequently attract students from other departments at NC State. The total number of students taking these inter-coordinated lectures was 25 in the time of my teaching (Fall 2015 and Spring 2016). During the electronics lecture, I was responsible for the organization, exams, seminars, and a total of 4 guest lectures (observation semester). In the photonics lecture (teaching semester) I organized, developed, and taught the entire lecture by myself (while also creating my professional development project).
